His powerful Word is sharp as a surgeon’s scalpel, cutting through everything, whether doubt or defense, laying us open to listen and obey. Hebrews 4:12 (MSG)
Do you ever feel strange for no reason? Sometimes you sense that change is on the way but you are not quite sure what. Other times, you may feel unsettled or unsatisfied without cause. It may be that God is working on you.
I was once stabbed with a pencil and the lead broke off in my hand. I didn’t think much of it but a year later it became infected. My doctor froze the area, slit it open with a scalpel, and used a hook-like tool to clean it out. It wasn’t painful because of local anaesthetic but I could feel him working. Similarly, God’s work in you isn’t overly painful but it can be a bit uncomfortable.
When you begin a relationship with God by asking Jesus to be your Saviour, you begin a process. By getting to know Him, reading the Bible, and asking for His help, you allow Him to work with you to become all He’s created you to be. It’s as though He’s a surgeon and His hands are elbow-deep inside you, making adjustments to your personality, habits, beliefs and thought processes that will leave you better and stronger.
God wants to finish the work He’s started in you by leading you to a book or message, showing you a scripture, or revealing something to you that will challenge beliefs that hold you back. Will you let Him?
