Learning To Be Led

Blessed (happy and to be envied) rather are those who hear the Word of God and obey and practice it! Luke 11:28 (AMP)

Learning to be led by Holy Spirit is incredibly exciting and rewarding!

Holy Spirit can show you things you would have no way of knowing any other way. He can work through you to bring healing to others, give you direction and inspire faith that would be impossible on your own.

We’ve been discussing how we can train ourselves to hear from Holy Spirit more clearly, and so far we have covered two ways: 1) Meditate on God’s Word and 2) Develop an intimate friendship with Holy Spirit. Today let’s discuss a third way: Obey instantly.

The key to training is consistency. If you punish a child for something and then laugh the next time they do it, you end up with a confused child. In a similar way, if you choose to listen to God’s Word only sometimes, you confuse yourself. On the other hand, if you consistently choose to follow his ways, you train your spirit to listen to Holy Spirit. Your decisions become quick and easy.

The more you respond to Holy Spirit, the more he gives you to do. Keep in mind, however, that he loves you no matter what. You don’t obey him to gain his love. You follow him BECAUSE of his love…and because you love him.

If you want to learn to be led by Holy Spirit, act on his leading right away. You can cautiously test out his leading in a natural way that doesn’t draw attention to yourself. Everywhere you go, just stay open to Holy Spirit while continuing to love, accept and show respect to the people you meet.
