Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account.
Hebrews 13:17
Do you ever wish you were more appreciated?
I think we’d all love to be encouraged and valued more, which is all the more reason to make sure you’re giving out as much encouragement as you can.
Often we forget that our leaders need this encouragement too. Because of the nature of leadership, leaders face a lot of criticism. The buck stops at them when things go wrong, and it can be tough.
When is the last time you complimented your leader on something they were doing right?
You may not agree with everything your leaders do, but you can still show them respect and appreciation. I’m not saying that you need to agree with them on everything. You can voice your opinion and bring up things that need to change. Just make sure that you do it with respect, and you balance your criticisms with letting them know what they’re doing right. When you approach things this way, you show that you respect your leaders’ authority, even when your opinion differs from theirs.
When you make an effort to notice the positive things your leaders are doing, you also keep your heart open to learn from them and work effectively with them. Not only that, but your appreciation and respect also helps to make your leaders more effective at what they do.
We could all stand to show more appreciation to the people around us, especially our leaders. So…who are you going to encourage this week?
