Don’t burn out; keep yourselves fueled and aflame. Be alert servants of the Master, cheerfully expectant. Don’t quit in hard times; pray all the harder. Help needy Christians; be inventive in hospitality. Romans 12:11–13 (MSG)
Do you ever lack motivation? Most of us struggle to stay inspired from time to time. We make the decision to get healthy but two weeks in, the motivation drops.
Without the drive, we tend to revert back to old behaviour. We may have the best intentions, but we plateau without motivation. Motivation is critical.
Even in the face of several de-motivating factors, you can decide to remain motivated. That being said, we also need to limit our exposure to motivation killers. Several things can kill motivation; today we will cover two:
- Loose boundaries.
You cannot be motivated if you are spread too thin. Decide your boundaries; it’s impossible to do it all. Since you can’t really manage time—it passes regardless—manage your priorities. Don’t allow others to dictate how you spend your time. Set priorities for your time—both at work and in your private life.
- The wrong people.
If you hang around apathetic people, you will experience a low level of personal motivation. Spend your time with people who refuse to quit. They will help to influence you to stay motivated.
Dig deep and get motivated. When problems push at you, make the decision not to let them pull you down. Become the kind of person who is consistently motivated.
