Still, You are holy; You make Your home on the praises of Israel.
Psalm 22:3 (VOICE)
You may have heard that God is omnipresent, meaning that He is everywhere.
But do you always sense His presence?
Maybe you’ve never felt God’s presence, or you’ve had times when you’ve felt like He was nowhere near. Or maybe you’ve simply experienced some days when you’ve sensed Him more strongly than others. The important thing to remember is that even when you don’t feel like He’s there, He is.
God’s presence in your life isn’t fleeting. He isn’t chased away by certain attitudes. He doesn’t reject you when you do certain things. God is always there, and He always wants to communicate with you.
Certain attitudes and behaviours can increase your awareness of God, however. Praise and worship is one example. Psalm 22:3 says that God dwells in the praises of His people, and when you turn your attention toward Him to thank Him, you become more aware of Him. Praying with others can also increase your awareness of God. Matthew 18:19-21 says that when two Christians pray together God is there.
If it’s been a while since you’ve been aware of the presence of God, spend some time with Him today. It may help to start with some great praise and worship music to help you to tune in. Then, as you read your Bible and do devotions, turn your attention to Him.
Don’t be concerned if you don’t have an earthshaking experience.
Spending time with God isn’t necessarily an emotional experience, and the level of emotion you experience doesn’t determine how close you are to Him. Just know this: He is always with you.
