Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.
1 John 4:17 (NKJV)
Jesus already took the judgment for everything you’ve ever done wrong. As a believer, you walk in freedom and peace.
When Christians give in to temptation, they often feel condemned. Deep down, they’re concerned for the future because they think that God wants to punish them for their misdeeds, and they find themselves asking, “Am I good enough for God?”
While our behaviour on this planet does have earthly consequences, God isn’t out to get us. Today’s verse reveals the reason why we can be confident in our relationship with God: as Jesus is, so are we in this world, as believers.
Is Jesus acceptable in God’s eyes? Then so are you. Did God love him? Then he loves you. Did Jesus heal people in his lifetime? Then so can you. When Jesus prayed for a miracle, did God withhold it? No. When Jesus needed finances, did God withhold it? No! Whatever Jesus has access to, you have access to. As Jesus is in this world, so are you.
As a believer, you died with Jesus, you rose again with him, and you are seated with him in heavenly places. As you focus on Jesus and realize what you have because of him, you will begin to realize that you can boldly come to him whenever you want to. You have no reason to shrink back. Go to him in the name of Jesus with confidence—not because you’ve earned the right, but because Jesus has on your behalf!
