Keep Rejoicing In The Storm

Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it.

Hebrews 4:1

Having a day of rest is great, but we as believers also need to remember that there’s a rest we can enter into all week long.

Our daily lives shouldn’t stress us out so much that we collapse on the weekends. We don’t have to endure night after sleepless, anxious night or work our fingers to the bone fifty weeks a year just to frantically try to unwind in our two short weeks of holidays. That’s not living. Today’s verse says we have a promise of rest.

We have to be careful. In our day-to-day lives, we often want to impress people with how busy we are. The busier we are, the more important we feel, but frantically busy and stressed out is not how God wants us to live. I’m not saying that we can’t be productive. You could be the CEO of a fortune 500 company, but still experience God’s rest.

You see, Holy Spirit in you empowers you to live in peace. If you

want to keep doing what you’re doing for a long, long time, don’t let yourself get so stressed out that you have to quit. Never allow fear to steal your peace and joy. If someone or something starts to stress you out, keep rejoicing in Jesus. Philippians 4 says to rejoice in him and make your requests known to God with thanksgiving, and his peace that surpasses all understanding will mount a guard on your heart and mind.

You can walk in God’s rest, even in the middle of a storm, if you keep praying, praising and thanking God.
