The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise. Proverbs 11:30 (NKJV)
Do you ever get overwhelmed when you’re encouraged to tell others about Jesus? You might picture an evangelist speaking to thousands and think, I can’t do that! But here’s an important thing to remember:
A large part of Jesus’ ministry involved Him ministering to one person at a time.
The Gospels record numerous occurrences: the Samaritan woman at the well (John 4:6-30), talking to the Centurion (Matthew 8:5-13), and healing blind Bartimaeus (Mark 10:46-52). Jesus would simply reach out and to one person, and it would completely change their life.
To the adulterous woman who didn’t think she’d ever be accepted, He showed acceptance and love (John 8:1-11). Even when dying on the cross, He extended grace and forgiveness to the thief hanging beside Him and saved his soul for eternity (Luke 23:32-43).
The truth is, you CAN reach people for Christ! It’s easy to adopt a complacent attitude, but think of yourself as a tree of life that produces fruit of joy, love, laughter, peace and the presence of God.
Everywhere you go, someone is noticing that there’s something different about you and your family. They might want to know what’s different about you, but feel too inadequate, broken or judged to approach you. The enemy will lie to us to try and make us feel like we’re not good enough. But it’s not about being good enough; it’s simply about looking outside of ourselves and sharing what we have with others.
It’s up to us, then, to take the first step. Jesus wants you to reach out to people one at a time, because each and every person is important to Him!
