For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.
Luke 19:10 (NKJV)
God is all about love. The entire purpose behind why God sent Jesus to this earth was to restore His
family to Him.
Some think that God is focused on all your mistakes because His main goal is to make you perfect. That’s actually not His goal.
If you were raised in legalistic religion or
by perfectionistic parents, this may be a
revelation to you. You may have grown
up thinking that the only way you could
be okay with God was to have your life all together. Or maybe the focus in your family was to never let others see your imperfections because you had to represent your family name well.
This kind of upbringing may have caused you to think that Christianity is all about getting your habits and behaviour perfect, but it’s not true. God definitely does empower you to follow His ways and, of course, He wants you to follow them because it’s the best way to live. However, His first priority is a relationship with you. The first thing God wants is for you to know how much He loves you.
John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life,” and 1 John 3:16 says, “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us” (NIV). God’s motivation for sending Jesus was love and relationship.
In fact, the story of what Jesus came to accomplish is a love story between God and the human race.
