In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people…your old men will dream dreams. Acts 2:17 (NIV)
If you’ve gone through some difficult times in life and you have given up on your dream, Holy Spirit wants to help you dream again. He wants to lead you to fulfil your God-given dreams!
In Acts 2, just following the moment when Holy Spirit made His entrance into believer’s hearts for the first time, Peter stood up in front of a crowd to preach. He quoted an Old Testament prophesy from Joel, and it’s interesting that it specifically mentioned the older generation when it comes to dreaming dreams.
Sometimes in life, the more heartache and hurt we’ve been through, the more we can lose sight of our dreams. Maybe your dreams for your marriage or your business have dwindled and died. If you’ve tried and failed, maybe the pain of that failure is so great that you don’t want to risk it again. You may have stopped expecting anything better because you don’t want to set yourself up for disappointment.
I’m telling you, it’s time to dream again!
Pick yourself up and look positively toward the future. If you’ve accepted Christ, God’s blessing is upon you. Even if you feel that your struggles have been entirely your fault because you’ve made bad decisions, God has a bright future for you.
Listen to me! You don’t have to stay stuck in fear, guilt or shame. If you’ve done wrong, make things right with the people you’ve hurt as much as you can, ask God for His forgiveness, and then lift your head high and look to the future. It’s time to reawaken the dreams that God has placed on the inside of you.
