It’s As Good As Done

Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done. Matthew 21:21 (NKJV)

Children do not need to know where the electricity comes from when they hit a switch. They just believe in it. That’s how your faith needs to be. Confusion, doubt and fear try to stop us from receiving what is ours.

In Mark 9, we find the story of a man who brought his son to Jesus to be healed. This was the man’s request to Jesus: Have mercy on us and help us, if you can (vs. 22, NLT). Sound familiar? Many of us have prayed desperate prayers, doubting whether God could help or even wanted to help.

What was Jesus’ response? What do you mean, If I can? He said, anything is possible if a person believes (vs. 23, NLT).

The issue is not, “If He can,” it is, “Will you believe?” It is not about evoking compassion from God and moving Him to act on your behalf. He is already for you.

With this in mind, never feel condemned if you do not instantly receive an answer to prayer. If you need a miracle in your life right now, choose to have the same response as the father of this boy: help me overcome my unbelief! (verse 24, NLT). Jesus knows that you will fight doubt; He is willing to help you overcome it.

Stop trying to figure it all out. Just focus on the end result, see it happening and believe that because of Jesus it is as good as done.
