And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
1 Corinthians 2:4–5 (NKJV)
Many Christians don’t experience God’s power in their lives because they’ve moved away from the phenomenal, who-can-believe-it, greatest- stumbling-block message of Jesus’ finished work on the cross.
When you move away from the truth of what Jesus has done for us, you lose all power. If you begin to rely only on the wisdom of men, you won’t access the phenomenal power that lies within the truth of God’s Word.
For example, if you’re going through an illness, don’t try to rationalize why you aren’t instantly healed. Don’t begin to base your beliefs on your experience instead of on what God’s Word says.
We’ve all had losses and have gone through
hard times. We’ve all had things happen even
though we prayed they wouldn’t, but we can’t let our experiences change our doctrine. There is no power in the wisdom of men; you have to get back to the power of Jesus’ finished work. The only way to experience the healing and transforming power of God is to go back to the truth of what Jesus accomplished for us.
The Bible says that through Jesus’ finished work, He took the curse (Galatians 3:13). That curse included sickness and disease (Deuteronomy 28:61). “By his wounds, you have been healed” (1 Peter 2:24, NIV).
So, what is the big deal about Jesus? Because of Him, you can have a relationship with God, but there’s even more. In Christ, you have the right to every power-filled promise of God. Keep putting your faith in His power.
