How Does Holy Spirit Lead?

Leon FontaineDevoted

The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly. Proverbs 20:27 (KJV)

It is important to distinguish where you sense the Spirit of God leading you. You are comprised of three parts: spirit, soul and body. Feelings are the voice of the body. Reasoning is the voice of your mind. And conscience is the voice of the spirit.

We can often sense Holy Spirit’s leading as a gut feeling.

Even those who have not given their lives to Christ can sense and follow their human spirit because it knows things their mind cannot know. However, when we accept Christ Jesus as our Saviour, God’s Spirit takes up residence in our spirit. We gain the right to access His limitless, perfect direction.

When I have a decision to make, I begin to set out in the direction I feel Holy Spirit is leading me to take. I think about it and determine the best route and when I begin moving in that direction, I tune in to sense if I have peace about it.

If I do not feel a sense of peace, I know something is not right. You intuitively know when things are not right—deep down, you experience a forbidding feeling. Just think about a time when you knew what you wanted to do was wrong, but you did it anyway. That is the forbidding feeling I am talking about.

Think about the decisions you are facing right now. Do you feel a sense of peace about the direction you are heading?
