That you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:22–24 (NKJV)
The heart is a channel. Through it, God’s promises flow into your life.
Your heart connects your spirit to your worldly reality. As a believer, Holy Spirit within your spirit holds all things that pertain to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3), so your spirit is full of life, healing, joy and integrity. But the condition of your heart may be keeping you from getting all of those things into your life.
Now, when I say condition of your heart, I’m not talking about sin. I’m talking about belief. If you aren’t experiencing a promise, that’s not a reflection on your morality or on how right you are with God. It’s not that God gave up on you or he doesn’t love you. It’s not that there’s something wrong with you. You’re born again, so you’re right with him. There’s nothing separating you from God!
But…we’re all working on our heart beliefs—all of us! None of us are experiencing all of God’s promises to the fullest extent. This is nothing to feel condemned about. It’s a process that involves taking your life to the next level, whether that’s in your health, emotions, business or relationships. And God’s Word can help change us from one degree of glory to another.
As the Word of God begins to renew your mind, it gets your heart in line. It teaches you about who you are in Christ, and out of you will flow God’s healing, power, peace and joy.
