Headed For The Other Side

That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” Mark 4:35

Problems and difficulties that arise in our lives can have one of two effects. They can either shut us down or blast us ahead, depending upon how we deal with them.

We can learn a lot about how Jesus dealt with the storms of life from Mark 4, where he calmed an actual storm that threatened to take his life and the lives of his followers. After teaching all day by the Sea of Galilee, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” They boarded a boat and set off, but before long a severe windstorm started to wash waves into the boat. As the storm continued to blow and the disciples started to panic, Jesus was asleep in the stern.

A little indignant, the disciples woke Jesus and said, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” (v. 38). But it’s not that Jesus was indifferent. Jesus had decided to go to the other side. He trusted that God was with him, so that’s where he was going!

When you sense that God has a direction for you or you discover a promise in his Word, no matter what kind of trouble comes your way, you need to keep believing it’s going to happen!

Storms may blow, but they don’t determine where you’re going. Jesus still went to the other side, even though the storm was trying to stop him, and no storm can stop you from fulfilling your destiny either. Keep believing, keep growing in wisdom and knowledge, and keep moving in that direction, and you’ll get there!
