“Grace” Means More Than We Realize

For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ. Romans 5:17 (NKJV)

Grace is so much more than a prayer at mealtime. Grace is God’s power, ability, unearned favour and full provision for your life and it’s freely yours to use anywhere, anytime. Because of grace you can have a relationship with God. This relationship with God gives you access and full legal right to His abundant power and ability to help with your relationships, business and every aspect of your life.

According to our verse today, you have received God’s grace because of Jesus, and it also reveals how much grace you get—abundant grace! It also says that your faith in Christ enables you to reign in life through this abundant grace and the gift of righteousness.

Righteousness means right standing with God. It means that your sins are forgiven and heaven becomes your eternal home when you follow Jesus, but that’s not all. Although that is absolutely amazing, there’s even more! Ephesians 2:8 says that “by grace you have been saved through faith,” and that word “saved” includes the following meanings: to heal, protect, deliver, preserve, make whole, keep well and rescue from destruction.

When you come across the word “grace,” remind yourself of its full meaning. It’s about God’s power in you as well as His unearned favour and full provision in your life. It’s about being able to have an incredible relationship with Him, and about your ability to overcome and have victory in this lifetime. By grace, you are protected and made whole! Our God is so good!
