GOD’S PROMISE OF YOUTH

Leon FontaineDevoted

Who satisfies your years with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the [soaring] eagle. Psalm 103:5 (AMP)

The second promise to declare over yourself daily is: “My youth and energy are renewed by God’s presence.” Many moms struggle with having enough energy. Between looking after their kids, marriage and, for many, a career as well, they are exhausted.

But today’s verse paints a picture of renewal. It compares us to eagles, who regularly go through a moulting process of replacing their old feathers with new ones. Second Corinthians 4:16 also encourages us not to lose heart, because our inner self is being renewed day by day.

Some of my peers have already decided they’re old and tired. They expect to be sick, stiff and subject to every disease that goes around. You have to fight off that thinking. Many men and women do great things in their sixties, seventies and beyond.

Take Caleb, for example. At age 85, he entered the Promised Land and said, “I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me… Now therefore, give me this mountain of which the Lord spoke in that day…” (Joshua 14:11-12, NKJV). No matter your age, God wants to work powerfully in and through you too!

I’ve noticed that people who spend time in God’s presence seem to have an inner glow. They look and act more youthful. They have a deeper joy and a passionate drive to move forward in life. There’s something about God’s presence that restores your youth like the eagles and fills you with supernatural energy. Begin to declare that today, and you will find it easier to fight off weariness and discouragement.
