The fifth promise in our series is: “I have no fear but a spirit of power, a spirit of love and a sound, disciplined mind with healthy emotions.”
When it comes to hearing God, one of the biggest issues we face in this area is fear. It’s hard to get His guidance when there’s fear in your life because fear and faith cannot coexist.
Your mind and body will listen to your words, so begin to speak the Word of God over your life. I remember situations when there was a real reason to be afraid, and people around me were running around like Chicken Little. But I would speak God’s Word and feel a sense of calm settle over me. I knew it was Holy Spirit—the Spirit of power, of love and a sound mind.
Others would actually get mad because I wasn’t displaying the same fear they were. They’d say, “Don’t you understand how serious this is?” Of course, I understood. I just refused to give in to fear, because I know I can’t hear God when I’m wrapped up in anxiety.
Moms, you have a powerful ability to set the tone in your household. No matter what is pushing at you, declare out loud that fear has no place in your life. You have God’s power, His love and a calm, well-balanced mind. Your God will never let you down, so you can stand in the middle of chaos and be at peace.
