Let them shout for joy and be glad, who favor my righteous cause; and let them say continually, “Let the Lord be magnified, who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.” Psalm 35:27 (NKJV)
Does God want you to prosper? I was preaching on this topic one day in church. Afterward, a good friend of mine told me, “Leon, I would never be as selfish as to want more than I need in life.”
That sounds honourable. But I asked him, “If everybody here asks, believes for and gets only what they need, who will give to those who don’t have? Who will finance the will of God to help the helpless or reach the lost?”
Today, I want you to understand that God desires for His people to increase. Psalm 25:27 tells us that He takes pleasure in the prosperity of His servants! He wants you to move up into new seasons of influence, abundance, skill and maturity.
The purpose of prosperity is not just to get the biggest house or best car. As you seek God’s Word and discover His promises, you begin to get excited about financing His Kingdom and influencing others.
In whatever field God has placed you, He gives you the wisdom and ability to increase. If you’re a waitress, God empowers you to be the best server in that restaurant as you radiate the love of Jesus. If you’re a doctor, He gives you wisdom to treat your patients as His healing power flows through you.
Maybe right now you’re struggling to stay afloat, but God’s will is for you and your family to rise up and prosper. Believe that there is more ahead. God has promised that He’s given you everything you need to prosper, with plenty left over to share with others (2 Corinthians 9:8)!
