God Is Pursuing You

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

Revelation 3:20 (NKJV)

Do you ever feel like your prayers are a bother to God?

Sometimes we assume that we’re pestering God when we want to spend time with Him, but today’s verse paints a very different picture. God is standing at the door, knocking. He’s just waiting for you to let Him in so He can spend time with you.

Actually, let me paint you another picture based on Matthew 28:20, in which Jesus said, “I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (NKJV). According to this scripture, God is with us all of the time. The trouble is, we’re not always aware that He’s there.

Let’s say that you’re sitting alone in a crowded coffee shop, but a very good friend is sitting at the table right behind you. That friend is with you, but you’re unaware of his presence, so you’re not benefitting from the fact that he’s with you. You could be laughing and having a great time together, if you would just turn your senses in his direction.

It’s the same with God. To spend time with Him, you simply need to direct your senses and your focus toward Him. When you put your focus on Him, you become aware of His presence, and you can take that awareness with you throughout your day.

God is with you at all times, and He wants to develop a relationship with you. He’s at the door of your awareness, knocking to come in!
