God Is Not A Critical Father

But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. John 14:26 (AMPC)

When we were teaching our kids how to walk, Sally and I would often prop them up in the corner facing outward. After they teetered for a second, we would gently pull them forward by the shirt, just off balance. They would react by taking a few wobbly steps forward before collapsing on the floor to the sound of our enthusiastic cheering! A big, excited grin would sweep across their face as we propped them up again, ready for round two.

What motivated them to keep trying? It was encouragement, not scolding! We praised them for trying—and for the success they did achieve.

In the same way, your Father God encourages you; He thinks you are amazing! He is not a critical father who you can never please.

Kids who have a critical father live with a constant knot in their stomach. Nothing they do is ever good enough. When they have a hard day, they don’t go to dad! When we think of God as a critical, angry father, we avoid Him too.

God is not critical of you. Read John 14:26. God’s Holy Spirit is not referred to as the Judger (Criticizer, Faultfinder, Nitpicker, Condemner, Hyper-critic)! Actually, Satan is “the accuser,” not Holy Spirit! (Job 1-2, Proverbs 15:11, Revelation 12:10, AMP)

Jesus told us He would send us a Comforter. Believe that Holy Spirit is on your side and gain the power to laugh and love life!
