God Does Not Have The Whole World In His Hands

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind (declare to be improper and unlawful) on earth must be what is already bound in heaven; and whatever you loose (declare lawful) on earth must be what is already loosed in heaven.Matthew 16:19 (AMP)

The idea that God has the whole world in His hands sounds so good— but is it biblically correct? If God is managing the planet, why do millions of babies die of starvation each year? Why would He allow little boys and girls to be beaten and abused?

Questions like these are a source of confusion for many. Some believe that God is in control of everything on this planet and can do whatever He wants to. Let’s examine this belief and test its validity.

In the beginning, God gave man dominion on this earth. In Psalm 115:16, it says “The highest heavens belong to the Lord, but the earth he has given to man.”

The word for ‘given’ in Hebrew actually implies ‘managing, administrating, and stewarding.’ Although God owns the earth, He gave over the management of it to Adam.

Because Adam and Eve disobeyed God, they handed their authority over to Satan. Jesus said three times (John 12:31, 14:30, 16:11) and Paul also said (1 Corinthians 4:4) that the ruler of this world is Satan.

The Good News is that Jesus won back our authority when He died on the cross for us. Matthew 16:19 talks about how He has given us the keys and the authority to bind and loose on earth whatever is bound and loosed in heaven. The question is: do you use it?
