And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28 (NKJV)
Sometimes we can get into a rut with our faith lives. We start serving Jesus out of obligation or habit, or we feel like we’re just going through the motions because we’ve lost our passion for God.
If you’re feeling this way, could it be because you’ve lost sight of how much God loves you?
Sometimes we forget the fact that God is always for our good. We fall for the lie that He’s angry or disappointed with us, which causes us to pull away from Him. We start to see the principles He’s given us in the Bible as restrictive instead of protective.
The truth is, God wants to show us how to build the best lives, filled with great relationships, a sense of purpose and incredible fulfillment. He wants to help us to be better friends, spouses, children, students, employees and parents.
As we study His Word and begin to see how much He loves us, something very special happens. We also start to see how God causes all things to work together for good in our lives…even when we’ve made mistakes. Our missteps may still have consequences, but He helps us deal with the collateral damage and empowers us to build again.
When you read the Bible, think about how much God loves you. Keeping His love top of mind will completely change the way you think about the biblical advice He has for your life, and will help get you out of that rut.
