And from the days of John the Baptist until the present time, the kingdom of heaven has endured violent assault, and violent men seize it by force [as a precious prize—a share in the heavenly kingdom is sought with most ardent zeal and intense exertion].
Matthew 11:12 (AMPC)
Is life just happening to you, or are you going after the kind of life God says you can have with intense exertion?
Today’s verse says that the kingdom of God is something worth fighting for. It’s so amazing that it’s worth going after with the most ardent zeal and intense exertion!
What is this kingdom of God we are to fight for? Well, I’m not talking about heaven here. We don’t need to fight to secure a place in heaven; that part is a gift that became yours when you accepted Christ. I’m talking about living in the kingdom here on earth—living in God’s blessings and promises. And one powerful way to begin to experience his promises is by claiming them over your life.
We’ve been on a series over the past few days and are claiming one of God’s promises together in every devotional. Today let’s claim Acts 16:31, which says, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household” (NKJV).
Here’s how you can claim this over your family: “Thank you, Father, that because I believe, my entire household will be saved! I’m claiming this in faith and I can picture it now: every member of my family choosing to serve you!”
Have a fighting spirit of faith that says, “I will not quit! I’m going to fight to stay in faith!” Experience God’s best by developing a passion and drive to claim God’s promises every day!
