And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Matthew 28:18 (NKJV)
Your heart gives birth to your future. This is why you need to be careful what seeds you plant in your heart.
How do you plant things in your heart? One way is through your focus. Your heart is like soil; it grows whatever you put in it. If you plant both carrot and thistle seeds in your garden, the ground will provide moisture and nutrients to both indiscriminately. Your heart is the same. No wonder the Bible tells us to guard the soil of our hearts! You need to focus on good things, and if you focus on God’s Word, you plant God’s beliefs in your heart.
In Matthew 16:19, Jesus said that he was handing us the keys to the kingdom. He said that all authority was given to him in heaven and on earth (Matthew 28:18), so this means he gave us the keys to our future. What you release into your world will be released. What you don’t release into your world won’t be released.
Try it for yourself! Choose a verse to meditate on this week. Write it down and put it where you’ll see it every day. For example, 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (NKJV). If you focus on this verse, you’ll begin to create a belief in your heart that binds fear and releases power, love and a sound mind into your life.
