Gateway To More Love

Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day. Psalm 119:97 (NKJV)

Biblical meditation isn’t meant to be a boring chore we do out of obligation. In fact, if you go about it the right way, you’ll start to crave it, because it’ll cause you to deepen your love for the scriptures and your love for God.

Today’s verse shows how the psalmist felt about his meditation time. The word law there isn’t referring to a list of do’s and don’ts; it’s referring to God’s Word. He would read God’s Word and then keep that concept, principle or idea in his mind throughout the day.

It’s easy to go about our days forgetting that we even have a Father God, but the more we keep Him on our minds, the more we get to know Him and begin to enjoy our relationship with Him. We deepen our love for God as we meditate on Him and His Word.

God’s Word was written to help you have exceptional relationships and self-worth, to live with great purpose and fulfillment, and to know God in an incredibly rewarding way. This kind of life doesn’t come from rushing around, trying to be perfect or do everything. It stems from the ability to be still.

We all have to-do lists that are screaming at us, but we can still find quiet time every day. Life has a way of trying to dictate what you think about every moment. We are inundated with information, clutter and distraction. Even if you can only grab five minutes here and there, learn to get quiet with God and direct your thoughts to His ways. Get a hold of that stillness, and you’ll start to love the time you spend with God.
