Focus Causes It To Grow

Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together. Psalm 34:3 (NKJV)

If you look at an ant through a magnifying glass, it looks bigger. The magnifying glass doesn’t actually cause the ant to grow, but it looks like it did. The ant fills your view and you can see every detail.

If you magnify God, it’s the same. You don’t make Him bigger by magnifying Him. But He can begin to fill your view. You can make Him a bigger part of your life.

So how do you magnify God? Through your focus. What you give attention to will grow in your mind.

David wanted to magnify God. He also shared how: I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear of it and be glad (Psalm 34:1–2, NKJV).

If all your attention is given to the way you were before you gave your life to Christ, it does nothing to magnify God in your life. If all you think about is what you can’t do and what you’ve failed at in the past, you magnify your old ways, and it causes you to re-experience your past. You’ll begin to experience the same old habits, same old stinking thinking, same old weaknesses, temptations and moods.

But if you want God’s presence to be BIG in your life, focus on God. Magnify Him!

Keep your mouth filled with praises during the day. Make sure your heart and mind are set on God, and when you do, you’ll magnify and exalt Him. God will become a bigger part of your life, and you’ll be empowered to overcome every obstacle that stands in your way.
