He also has planted eternity in men’s hearts and minds [a divinely implanted sense of a purpose working through the ages which nothing under the sun but God alone can satisfy], yet so that men cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 (AMPC)
Do you ever feel empty?
Even if you’ve made the decision to follow Jesus, you may sense a void at times.
Giving your life to Christ is an incredibly life-changing, eternity-altering decision, but you still need to spend time with God every day or you will feel like something is missing.
You see, when we live with only this lifetime in mind, it’s not enough to satisfy us. We were made for so much more. In fact, we are drawn toward the eternal. Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NKJV) says that God “has put eternity” in our hearts, giving us a need to sense the eternal.
We often try to fill this need for eternity other ways. Sometimes we try to fill it with relationships; other times we go after success or fame, but come up empty.
When we spend time in God’s presence, it satisfies our deepest longing for eternity, and it doesn’t have to be complicated. We don’t have to engage in complicated rituals or routines; all it takes is a change in
awareness.
God’s Spirit lives in you, so you don’t have to go looking for His presence. He’s in you and around you always, but you can increase your awareness of Him. Try talking to Him today, or spending some time in praise and worship.
When you take the time to be grateful for all God has done for you and you focus on how amazing He is, your awareness of His presence will grow.
