All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. John 6:37 (NIV)
Over the past few days, we’ve been on a series talking about how you can achieve your potential. Today let’s talk about something that keeps many people’s potential locked away: the fear of rejection.
When Adam and Eve were in the garden, their relationship with God caused them to walk in confidence and faith. They got their power and ability from God. But when they disconnected from God, they discovered rejection and fear.
When God came looking for them in the garden, He called for them, but they didn’t answer. They were hiding. They had never before feared rejection from God, and it must have been horrible to be confronted with it all at once.
We all know what this feeling is like. We’ve all been rejected at one point or another in life. But you need to know that, as a believer, you NEVER have to fear rejection from God. He accepts you unconditionally. You can turn to Him any time and know that He’ll be there for you.
What if you just made the biggest mistake of your life? He accepts you. What if you hurt someone else really badly? He loves you. You may have to face consequences for your actions here on earth, but those consequences don’t come from God. He may not approve of your actions, but He approves of you, and He always will.
God will never reject you. If you want to achieve your God-given potential, meditate on today’s verse until you are completely convinced. And if you need a bit more convincing, read John 6:39 and 10:28 too!
