The kingdom of God is like a man who throws seed on the ground Mark 4:26 (AMP)
Let me tell you about one of the things I hated most in my childhood—the family garden.
Every couple of days, mom would load up all five of us boys and we would go out to weed the garden. Ever since then, I’ve hated gardens. But that experience did teach me a lot about faith.
You see, I’d love gardens if it weren’t for the weeds. Wouldn’t it be great if you could plant whatever you wanted and just go back a month and half later to harvest it? But in the real world, that’s not the way it is. If you don’t take care of the weeds, they take over, and all you’d have is great big weeds at harvest time.
But if you go out there regularly, you can pick the weeds when they’re small and it’s not a big deal. That’s like your heart. Your heart is like soil, and it’s a process to bring the miraculous into your life.
When you plant more of what you want into your heart, you deal with the little misbeliefs that keep popping up. It’s like you’re weeding your inner garden, and you’re going to produce a great harvest as a result.
For example, if you want more peace, stop planting fear and doubt by focusing on what it says in the news and what all the naysayers have to say. Instead, plant peace by focusing on God’s promises and talking to other believers who can encourage you and believe with you.
Faith is something that you build over time through disciplined study and focus. Keep planting God’s promises and you will love the results!
