Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
Colossians 3:23–24
Have you developed the habit of complaining lately?
If you’re sick and tired of talking about what makes you sick and tired, it’s time to develop a little more enthusiasm. The good news is that enthusiasm is in each and every one of us, as believers. In fact, the word enthusiasm comes from the root words en and Theos, meaning “in God.”
Everything you do in life, you can “do for the Lord” (Colossians 3:23). God is all about laughter, joy, peace, harmony and zeal, so his presence brings enthusiasm.
It bugs me when people beg God to show up in their worship time, as though he’s stingy with his time or it’s a bother for him to share his presence with us. There’s no joy in that kind of worship. But when you realize how enthusiastic he really is about spending time with us, we can enjoy his presence.
And because Holy Spirit is in you, you can live with enthusiasm at work, at home, and everywhere you go. Enthusiasm can become a part of everything you do!
Show your kids and your friends how enthusiastic you are about them. And if you’re married, be enthusiastic about your spouse. Talk about them with passion. Get excited about your time together. When you see your spouse, greet them enthusiastically…and make sure that enthusiasm doesn’t leave when you reach the bedroom. Choose to be excited about that person you married!
Be enthusiastic…because you’re empowered to be!
