You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. 2 Corinthians 9:11
Jesus came to set you free in every way. He said “you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free” (John 8:32). But what is this truth he was talking about?
The truth that sets you free is the truth of the gospel, and a major part of that truth includes the fact that Jesus Christ defeated Satan. Why is this truth so important? It’s important because we need to realize Jesus’s victory to understand the rights and privileges we have in Christ. You see, Ephesians 2:6 explains that we as believers are seated with Christ in heavenly places. In other words, we share his authority over the enemy and his relationship with God.
Actually, the book of Ephesians has a lot to say about our authority in Christ. And a lot of it boils down to this: Satan has no real power in your life.
You can resist the devil’s temptations, and he has no choice but to back off (James 4:7). You put a stop to his ploys by commanding that they go in Jesus’s name (Matthew 8:32). And you can claim God’s promises over your life and enforce the authority you have in Christ.
For example, let’s claim today’s verse as well as the verse before it. Make it personal by saying something like this: “Father, thank you for making it possible for me to get what I need for today as well as what I need to increase every area of my life. And thank you for blessing my finances so I can be generous to others!”
