Enjoy God Every Day

“Then will you delight yourself in the Lord, and I will make you to ride on the high places of the earth, and I will feed you with the heritage [promised for you] of Jacob your father; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it.” Isaiah 58:14 (AMPC)

According to Isaiah 58:14, as you learn to enjoy God, he causes you to “ride high and soar above it all” (MSG). He wants you to do great things.

Just to clarify, there is a big difference between living a great life and living a famous life. I know plenty of great people who are unknown, and I can think of plenty of famous people that I wouldn’t call great. Hitler was famous, but he certainly was not great, for example. The life God wants for you is a great life—a life that makes the world a better place and impacts others for him.

So how can you learn to enjoy God?

The Bible is your best resource for getting to know God. Yes, it has warnings and principles as well. It teaches us how to build a great life and it gives us warnings, demonstrating how to avoid painful consequences. Warnings are good; you need to know the rules to play the game. But rules aren’t everything. Knowing the rules gives you no power to keep them.

Don’t spend your life focused on the rules. Read the Bible to learn how to enjoy God.

You have the opportunity to get to know God himself. He loves you and wants to spend time with you every day. As you hang out with him, he injects joy, peace and love into your everyday living. Will you enjoy some time with him today?
