Dream For The Next Generation

I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring; they will spring up among the grass like willows by the watercourses. Isaiah 44:3-4 (NKJV)

What do you dream for the kids in your life?

When I had young children, I often heard this line: “Enjoy it while they’re young, because before you know it, they’re going to be teenagers, and then the trouble begins!”

While each stage of parenting does bring new challenges, we have to be careful. You see, we often get what we expect. If we expect our kids to rebel and wander away from God during their teenage years, experimenting with drugs and alcohol and premarital sex, then that’s certainly what we’re going to get.

Now, I’m not saying that behind every rebellious teenager is an unbelieving parent. Not at all. Despite having loving parents who are doing everything right, some teenagers may still choose wrong. However, even when this is the case, we need to maintain great expectations for our kids!

It’s never too late to reignite your faith. Stand on Proverbs 22:6, which says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”

Teach and model to them that popular culture is lying to them about life. According to the movies, life is fun when you’re young and single, but marriage is awful and serving God is boring. The truth is that I don’t want to go back to my teenage years because I’m having more fun today than I ever did in my teens!

Holy Spirit can empower us to have lives that just keep growing in passion, closeness and fun! And when you live your life led by Holy Spirit, every day is an adventure!
