For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that overcomes the world—our faith. 1 John 5:4 (NKJV)
When we’re in the middle of a struggle, it can be tempting to want to give up or give in. In times like these, we need to fight, but I’m not talking about fighting people, poverty, sickness or even the devil. The fight I’m talking about is the fight to stay in faith. We need to hang on to faith when times get tough because it’s what we believe in our hearts—our faith—that will take us through.
The devil is always trying to get believers out of faith. He wants to get you to give up, bow to or accept whatever you’re facing. Sometimes we even start to own these difficulties by calling them: “my unhappy marriage”, “my diabetes”, or “my debt”. Meanwhile, the devil has no real power over you. The devil will try to use your beliefs against you, but remember that Jesus has already won the victory, empowering you to overcome in every area of life!
In Daniel 3, three of Daniel’s friends were faced with a hard choice: bow to the statue of a king or face death by being thrown into a fiery furnace. When they refused to bow, they were thrown into the fire, but they weren’t alone. God walked with them in the midst of the fire and they came out untouched. They held firm to God’s promises, and just as He never left them, He will never leave you!
Stand firm in God and continue to fight the good fight of faith. Don’t bow to anyone or anything but Him, and watch as He takes you through victoriously!
