For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)
Is a fear of being hurt or a fear of failure holding you back in life?
Often these fears are rooted in pride, and we’re trapped into thinking that we’re comfortable, competent and looking good. The problem is, pride can also keep us from trying anything new, because new things always hold the possibility of failure.
If God’s going to take us places far beyond what we’ve even dreamed to be possible, we need to be willing to get out of our comfortable rut and go for it!
The apostle Paul was one man who put aside his pride and took things in stride (Philippians 4:11–12). Paul was determined to accept when things were going well and when they weren’t—even when he was being beaten down and kicked out of cities. He decided that he wouldn’t allow his circumstances to affect his decision to walk out all that God had planned for his life.
Just like Paul, God has incredible paths prepared for you—adventures and challenges that suits your individual skills, gifts, desires and likes! His plans will light you up, but they also require you to step out in faith to walk them out. There are going to be seasons along the way where you’re going to think, “I can’t do this,” but choose to adopt Paul’s attitude, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).
If pride is holding you back from stepping out and following the paths God designed for you to take, make the decision to trust Him in everything. He’s empowering you all the way!
