Don’t Focus On The Devil

For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3:8 (NKJV)

When struggling to go to a new level in life, many people get stuck because they think the devil is stopping them. The problem is that this causes them to devote all their time to fighting him, which only makes them more stuck.

Although there is a fight involved in moving to a new level, we are not fighting the devil.

Jesus is our example, and He doesn’t make decisions based on the devil. When the devil tried to trick Jesus, He quoted scripture. When the devil was oppressing someone, Jesus simply told him to get out. Jesus could quiet any of his distractions and temptations quickly and easily.

If Jesus didn’t get excited about the devil, we don’t have to either because Jesus is in us.

I’ve discovered that when I ignore the devil (because he’s defeated anyhow) and I begin to concentrate on planting God’s Word in my heart instead, my life changes. For example, if my family started to suffer health problems, I wouldn’t focus on binding the devil’s attacks. After all, if I really believe God’s promises, there’s nothing he can do to me.

Instead, I would begin to study God’s Word on healing so I could gain a confident trust in His promise for health.

If you’re struggling, it may be time to look within. You always have control over what you plant into your heart. Let go of the victim mentality and take control over what you’re planting in your heart, because your heart will grow and release whatever you plant into your life.
