Don’t Expect Too Little

He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son, but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things? Romans 8:32 (AMP)

Children tend to test their parent’s patience when they expect too much but God is the opposite. He doesn’t want us to expect too little! Psalm 78 talks about how Israel limited God when they expected too little. They lived in the desert on the edge of a great land for 40 years because they didn’t expect God to come through for them. Are you expecting too little in your marriage? What about in your finances or your peace of mind? God wants you to expect more.

Spend time with people who help you expect more. Some help you stay locked in your normal. Others have the normal you want; they’ll influence you to change.

Become a member of a church that will challenge your normal. We need others’ help if we want to avoid becoming stuck in a normal that doesn’t work.

Align your thinking with Jesus’.

Contrary to what some people think of Jesus, He had no problem living and laughing with people. Follow His example. As you discover more about Jesus and develop a relationship with Him, you can expect more. Read the Bible and find out what God says you can have. Develop your relationship with Jesus and His power will reside inside you!

Don’t live your life as though good things are only something you can hope for. Make the decision that you are no longer willing to live with less than what God says you can have. God will be all over that decision, empowering you all the way!
