Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! Psalms 27:14 (ESV)
If you want unshakeable peace, place your faith in an unshakeable God.
I’ll often meet people are who stressed out or fearful. The first thing I’ll ask them is, “How much time are you spending in God’s Word?” I often hear, “I don’t have any time to spend in God’s Word! My life is crazy right now! I mean, I can’t even settle my mind down to read the Word!”
f peace seems out of reach or it’s difficult to focus or calm down, I want to challenge you to start with just one verse from God’s Word. Just one verse. Use today’s scripture, for example.
Now, when Psalms 27:14 says to “wait for the Lord,” it doesn’t mean to sit around, doing nothing. It implies being like a waiter, serving and remaining focused. What happens when we wait or focus on God? Our strength renews (Isaiah 40:31). How? The more we focus on God, speaking His Word aloud, the more His peace and joy begins to rise within us. Fear gets driven out as our trust and faith in Him grows.
If fear or worry seems to be a constant struggle, I challenge you to find a great book on God’s promises and read it for five or ten minutes every day. Adopt a habit of confessing His Word and praying verses out loud daily. Whenever you get scared, or it feels like peace begins to leave you, claim aloud the answer in God’s promises as yours.
Over time, your faith will begin to dominate over fear. You can live in His presence, power and peace every day.
