Deceive Or Empower

If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless. James 1:26 (NKJV)

Your words and the pictures they paint are helping to create your heart beliefs. You need to be careful what you say because words can either deceive your heart or empower it with truth.

Have you ever met someone who lied so much they now believe their own lies? It’s incredible how the mind works. But just as words can deceive, they can also empower your heart with truth. And when you know the truth, the truth will set you free (John 8:32, NLT).

If you speak the truth of God’s Word, it will start to change what you believe deep in your heart. You’ll begin to understand what it means to be a child of a loving God and discover what you’re entitled to have in Christ.

For example, Matthew 10:29–31 says God looks after the sparrows with such care that one doesn’t fall to the ground without Him knowing it. It also says you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows, so much so that He even knows the number of hairs on your head! That’s how much God cares for you and what’s going on in your life.

Try it right now. Say something like this today when you’re alone, or just under your breath: “Father, thank you that you value me so much that you even know how many hairs are on my head. I know you care deeply about (describe a problem you’re facing), and I trust that you’re leading and guiding me to make great decisions through it. With you, I’m going to overcome it!”
