Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. Joshua 1:8 (NLT)
What God believes about you has no effect on your life… unless you internalize His beliefs. In other words, it is your thoughts, not God’s, that determine whether or not you will realize your potential.
I am certainly not saying that God’s thoughts about you are irrelevant. His beliefs have the power to change everything in your life; however, they only have this profound impact when you allow them to change what YOU believe. To begin living out your God-given potential, you need to meditate on what God says about you more than what anyone else says.
God gave Joshua the key to success in Joshua 1:8—meditating on God’s Word. Meditating day and night may seem impossible, but we seem to have no trouble meditating on negative things day and night. Think about a time when someone said or did something that hurt you. You probably thought about it continually, going through every ‘should-have’ and ‘could-have’ scenario before you drifted off to sleep. Then as soon as you opened your eyes in the morning, resumed the internal play-by-play of the situation. You meditated on it, day and night!
Meditation is a doorway to your emotions. If you allow negative thoughts to be your focus, you open the door to fear, frustration and anger. On the other hand, if you think about God’s Word, you make your way prosperous and successful. God has already given you everything you need to succeed. What will you do with it?
