I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Galatians 2:20 (NIV)
Over the past few days we’ve been talking about how to discover who you really are—the new creation you are in Christ. We’ve discussed how you need to look into the accurate mirror of God’s Word to see your true reflection. But what should you look for specifically?
One of the things you need to see in God’s Word is how Christ is in you.
You might be thinking, Christ can’t be in me! You don’t know what I think about or how messed up I am! The thing is, you can’t look to your behaviour to deter- mine the truth. You can only look to God’s Word, and Colossians 1:27 says that Christ is in you!
As a Christian, you don’t pray as they did in the Old Testament, like you’re praying to a faraway God to come down and help you. Christ is in you! His power is in you! His authority is in you!
Look at how Peter prayed: “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk” (Acts 3:6, NKJV). Peter knew he had Jesus in him.
This advice may seem strange, but it’s a great reminder. Next time you’re alone in the bathroom, look at yourself in the mirror and say, “Hi, Jesus! I know you’re in there!” Become more aware of His presence in you and you’ll experience more of His power in your everyday life.
