Choose Your Outlook

Where there is no vision, the people perish. Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)

Everyone has a predominant outlook in life. Some see themselves succeeding and enjoying life. Like all of us, they have aspects of their life that they dislike, but they refuse to focus on them. Instead, they see the bright side—the potential they have to help others and to make their day brighter.

Others hold a vision that everyone is out to get them and nothing can ever go right. Murphy’s Law sums up their vision. They focus on annoyances and frustrations until their problems seem to enlarge and take over any enjoyment they once had.

Two things can sabotage your outlook:

1. Self: Negative, judgmental self-talk sabotages your chance to see the positive. To remain positive, you don’t have to close your eyes to problems; just dwell on solutions.

2. Others: Some plant seeds of cynicism in your mind, causing you to doubt your abilities and lose track of the bigger picture. Satan caused Adam and Eve to disobey God simply by planting a seed in their minds: “Did God really say?” (Genesis 3:1). Instead of constantly working to replace the negativity planted by others, confront or separate yourself from those who infect you with negativity.

How can you get a great outlook on life? Tap into God’s vision. God’s vision for you is uplifting and excellent. As you study His Word and find out the type of life He says you can have, your outlook can’t help but be positive. Life is an exciting adventure when you live it for His cause!
