Change The Picture Fear Built

He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. Psalm 103: 3 (NLT)

God wants you to picture a positive life. He doesn’t want you to live in fear of what might happen to you. In fact, if you allow yourself to dwell on fear, it affects your ability to experience good things.

When fear builds a picture in your mind, your mind can’t tell the difference between that picture and reality. For example, if I were walking through a back alley in South Africa and a lion began to stalk me, my adrenaline levels would immediately skyrocket, and my heart rate would increase. But the very same thing would happen if I were walking through that back alley and I started imagining a lion.

If I allow it, fear will paint a picture in my mind. I might imagine the lion’s claws slicing my skin, his hot breath on my face and his powerful jaws puncturing my neck. If I continue on this train of thought, my body will be affected by what is happening in my mind. Although no threat exists, I might start running because of something that is not even real.

Despite its negative consequences, many people live in worry and anxiety. Fear-based pictures affect our bodies, cellular structure, DNA and emotions. The good news is that we can destroy the pictures fear has built.

If you’ve received a negative diagnosis regarding your health, for example, read Psalm 103. Allow it to paint a new picture—one where ALL your diseases are healed.

Stop letting fear paint a picture of pain, heartache and torment for your future. Instead, meditate on God’s promises and it will paint a picture of what you now have because of Jesus.
