God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us. Ephesians 3:16–21 (MSG)
Living an incredible, abundant life starts on the inside.
We tend to concern ourselves with fixing external things in our lives, and we want God to intervene to help us. We pray, “God fix my body, my family, my spouse, my business….” It’s as though we want Him to take over, but in most cases, the miraculous manifests in our lives from the inside out.
As it says in today’s verses, God works “within us,” deeply and gently. The more that we engage in this inner work, the more we experience the supernatural (the miraculous).
As we read God’s Word to discover the truth, we start to challenge old beliefs and plant new ones into our hearts. As these new beliefs gain strength, our lives begin to change from the inside out.
I’m not saying that we can’t pray and ask God to intervene in the difficult situations of our lives. He is a miracle working God. But we also need to be willing to work to solve problems in our lives in a practical way, asking Him for His wisdom to guide us. However, if we want to move toward walking in more of God’s promises in our everyday lives, we need to realize something important.
Many of the changes that happen in our lives take place inside of us before they ever manifest themselves in our external world.
Today, ask God to show you the beliefs you need to work on. Then, as you study His promises, ask Him to help you replace what you believe with the truth of His Word.
