But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.
Matthew 13:23
In the physical realm, if your heart muscle was compromised, you would have trouble climbing a mountain or running a marathon. The same is true in the spiritual realm. You need a healthy heart—or one filled with healthy beliefs—to achieve the destiny God has for you.
The good news is you are in control of the beliefs that get planted in your heart.
Think of your heart as being similar to soil, growing whatever gets planted in it. Soil can’t differentiate between a fruit tree and a weed. It’ll grow them both. Likewise, your heart will grow whatever you plant. Planting negativity and pessimism produces one kind of crop, while optimism and God’s Word produces another.
For example, God’s Word says you as a believer have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16). This means you are a mighty, powerful, courageous person who can overcome the greatest of challenges this world has to offer. The more you learn truths like this about your real identity in Christ, the less you’ll believe old lies that hold you back. You’ll begin to understand that God wants you to experience a life filled with laughter and joy where all your dreams and goals are fulfilled.
While it’s good to set goals, make resolutions and pursue a life of excellence, remember to change from the inside out. Start with your heart. Take time every day to meditate on God’s promises, and every year you’ll walk out more of the amazing potential he’s placed within you!
