THE POWER OF GOD’S ARMOUR

Leon FontaineDevoted

Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Ephesians 6:13 (MSG) How do you “put on” God’s armour? By planting the truths and promises in His Word deep in your heart. The more you come to firmly accept and believe God’s thoughts, the harder it becomes for any opposing views to penetrate. The enemy’s lies just bounce off the armour. Now, that won’t stop Satan from trying to find chinks in your armour where he might weasel in. For example, he may fire some shots at your marriage to see if anything will stick. You’ll know he’s attacking because you’ll notice negative thoughts popping into your …

HOW TO BE COMBAT READY

Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. Ephesians 6:11 (NLT) There is a battle for our minds every day, yet many believers don’t even realize they’re at war. As a result, the enemy’s attacks catch them unprepared and unprotected. Unarmed soldiers who head into battle are easily wiped out. That’s why militaries equip themselves with combat equipment and weapons. And if they head to war, they don’t bring knives to a gunfight. They fight fire with fire. We need to operate the same way—because we’re engaged in spiritual warfare, we need to defend ourselves with spiritual armour. In Ephesians 6:13–17, Paul details the powerful armour God has provided to help us …

WHAT DO YOU KNOW?

Leon FontaineDevoted

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Hosea 4:6 (NKJV) Some people say, “What you don’t know won’t hurt you.” But today’s scripture doesn’t agree. For example, to walk around not knowing or denying the devil exists is like strolling on a busy freeway, proclaiming, “There are no such things as vehicles. I don’t believe in semi-trucks.” Does what we know or believe matter? Of course! If you don’t know or consider that vehicles exist and you wander onto the freeway, you won’t last long. A semi-truck will take you out because you lack knowledge or believe in a lie. The same principle applies when it comes to God’s Word in our lives. If we don’t know His truths and aren’t confidently rooted in …

FAVOUR WITH GOD AND MAN

Leon FontaineDevoted

And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men. Luke 2:52 (NKJV) Jesus was Spirit Contemporary. Incredible miracles happened everywhere He went, yet He loved to hang out with everyday people. He clearly put God first, but He was able to relate to people of all walks of life. Actually, Luke 2:52 clearly teaches that Jesus grew in favour with God (there’s the Spirit part) and man (there’s the contemporary part). He took time for people, sometimes walking for hours just to talk to one person. He accepted them as they were, which caused Him to be powerfully attractive to people of all walks of life. There’s no question that Jesus was filled with the Spirit, but He never came …

LOOKING FOR COMMON GROUND

Leon FontaineDevoted

Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some. 1 Corinthians 9:22 (NLT) When I worked in emergency rescue, I encountered horrific situations—spousal abuse, neglected children, cancer, heart attacks, accidents and suicides—and I knew God was longing to bring healing, peace and miracles to people’s lives. I was also angry and frustrated because it seemed as though most Christians were oblivious. It was great that we were praying for miracles for our fellow believers in church, and we should never stop doing that. But I kept wondering, “Where does this fit in a world filled with such suffering and pain?” I wanted to see God touch the lives of moms who had lost their babies and comfort children …
