For this reason we also, from the day we heard of it, have not ceased to pray and make [special] request for you, [asking] that you may be filled with the full (deep and clear) knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom. Colossians 1:9 (AMPC) Over the past few days, we’ve been talking about the fight that takes place in Christianity. It’s not about fighting among each other. And it’s not about fighting demons. Our fight is to stay in faith, to keep our focus, to stay the course. To win this fight, you need to keep claiming God’s promises over your life so you can stay in faith. One great scripture I love to pray over my family and friends is Colossians 1:9–10. …
God is Win-Win
And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory. Colossians 1:26–27 (NLT) Do you want to bring more glory to God? Today’s verse reveals the key: Christ in you. Glory is a word that’s often misunderstood. To keep it simple, think of it this way. If something makes God look good, it brings him glory. For example, when you experience God’s promises and blessings, you show the world how awesome he is. When you give him the credit, it brings him glory. So, experiencing God’s promises is one way to bring him glory. Isn’t that great? God is always working in a win-win kind of way! If you want to bring glory to God, then understand the …
Go After the Kingdom
And from the days of John the Baptist until the present time, the kingdom of heaven has endured violent assault, and violent men seize it by force [as a precious prize—a share in the heavenly kingdom is sought with most ardent zeal and intense exertion]. Matthew 11:12 (AMPC) Is life just happening to you, or are you going after the kind of life God says you can have with intense exertion? Today’s verse says that the kingdom of God is something worth fighting for. It’s so amazing that it’s worth going after with the most ardent zeal and intense exertion! What is this kingdom of God we are to fight for? Well, I’m not talking about heaven here. We don’t need to fight to secure …
Go in and Take It
Look, I’ve given you this land. Now go in and take it. Deuteronomy 1:6–8 (MSG) Just because God promised you something doesn’t mean you’re going to experience it. Sometimes you need to fight for what you want in life. When God promised the Israelites a land flowing with milk and honey, they had to fight the inhabitants of that land before they could take possession of it. In the same way, we have to learn how to fight to receive the promises we find in the Bible. Now I’m not saying you fight to earn God’s promises, and you certainly don’t fight other people to get in on God’s blessings. However, you do need to get a fighting spirit and learn to claim what is …
