Healing Is Yours

Leon FontaineDevoted

Through His wounds, you were healed. 1 Peter 2:24 (VOICE) According to today’s verse, you can access healing because of Jesus. At one time in my life, I had bone chips in my ankles from injuries I incurred when I was younger. Now and then, one of my ankles would lock up on me when I was just walking along. The pain was so excruciating that one time I almost passed out from it. I had seen the doctors about it, which is something you should always do when you’re dealing with a health issue, and they were considering surgery. In the meantime, I decided to pray. For a couple of months, I spoke God’s promises of healing over my ankles. After a while, I …

It’s Your Words

Leon FontaineDevoted

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 (NIV) According to the Word of God, your words determine the direction of your life. It’s not your momma, your papa, your doctor, or your teachers. These may have had an influence over your past, but the words you speak now have great influence over your future. When you speak, your words affect your mind, emotions, body, beliefs and the spiritual realm. Your words are powerful. What do you want more of in your life? Speak those promises over yourself. And what about the people around you? You can have a huge …

Your Prayers Are Powerful!

Leon FontaineDevoted

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. Ephesians 1:17 (NIV) Are you praying for someone to come to know Christ? Since the beginning of July, we’ve been covering powerful Bible verses every day…verses you can claim over your life and the lives of your loved ones. Today I’d like to share a verse I stand on when I’m praying for someone who doesn’t yet know Jesus: Ephesians 1:17. With this verse in mind, you could pray, “Father, thank you for giving (names of people you’re praying for) the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so they can know you better.” You could also …

What’s Following You?

Leon FontaineDevoted

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever. Psalm 23:6 (NKJV) When I was young, we used to sing an old hymn with a chorus that went something like this: “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me, all the days, all the days of my life.” It’s funny, but I actually thought that it was talking about three women who were following me: Shirley, Goodness and Mercy! The thing is, that misunderstanding still paints an accurate picture of what the psalmist was saying. Although goodness and mercy aren’t women, they are following me everywhere I go, and as a believer, they’re following you too! If you’re going for a job interview …

Speak to That Mountain

Leon FontaineDevoted

For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, “Be removed and be cast into the sea,” and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Mark 11:23 (NKJV) Prayer is proclamation as well as communication. Sometimes when I pray, I’m having a dialogue with God. I might say, “Hi, Father. I don’t know what to do in this situation. What do you think?” You can open up a two way conversation with God and he’ll put impressions in your heart and mind. Then there’s another kind of prayer that Jesus talked about in Mark 11:23. Let’s call this type of prayer “speaking to mountains.” Speaking to mountains is …
