Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Matthew 18:18 (NIV) I don’t know how people make it without the Word of God. I need my meditation time in God’s Word, and I need it regularly. I just can’t do what I do without it. With all the decisions I need to make and problems I need to sort through, I need to constantly remind myself of who God says I am and what he says I can do. You’re no different. You need to know who you are and what belongs to you in Christ. You need to remember whose report to believe. Not the doctor’s, the …
Stop the Attack
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7 (NIV) You can stop attacks that come against you. Matthew 8:28–34 tells the story of what happened one day when Jesus came face to face with two crazed, demon-possessed men. In the distance, a large herd of pigs was feeding. The demons knew they didn’t stand a chance against Jesus, so they begged him, “If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs” (v. 30, NIV). The minute Jesus spoke the word, the demons left, causing the entire herd of pigs to stampede into a lake and drown. You see, the enemy has to obey Jesus. Jesus has authority over all things in heaven and on …
God Protects You
For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. Psalm 91:11 This month we’ve been focusing on speaking God’s Word over our lives and the lives of our loved ones. Psalm 91:9–16 is so rich with God’s promises of protection that I want you to read it word for word: “If you say, ‘The Lord is my refuge,’ and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and …
Angels Obey God’s Word
Bless the Lord, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word, heeding the voice of His word. Psalm 103:20 (NKJV) You can release angels. Psalm 103:20 is worded very specifically. You might wonder why it doesn’t just say angels listen to God, because that would be accurate. But that’s not what it’s saying here. It says angels heed the voice of his Word, which means you can speak his Word and cause them to go to work on your behalf. Hebrews 1:14 says that angels are “ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation.” Isn’t that incredible? If you’re a believer, angels are here to serve you! You need to know that they’re on standby, ready to spring into action …
Deceive or Empower
If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless. James 1:26 (NKJV) Your words and the pictures they paint are helping to create your heart beliefs. You need to be careful what you say because words can either deceive your heart or empower it with truth. Have you ever met someone who has lied so much that they now believe their own lies? It’s incredible how the mind works. But just as words can deceive, they can also empower your heart with truth. And when you know the truth, “the truth will set you free” (John 8:32, NIV). If you speak the truth of God’s Word, it will start to …
